Capsule Monsters is set between the KC Grand Prix and Dawn of the Duel arcs of Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters. Yugi, Jonouchi (Joey), Anzu (Tea), Honda (Tristan) and Sugoroku (Solomon) are pulled into a world where Duel Monsters are real. They find capsules that they can use to summon and control the monsters, and now they must solve five deadly trials to open the way home.
The original twelve episode mini-series was compiled together in the form of two movies - Capsule Monsters: The Movie I, which is a condensed version of the first six episodes, edited to form a more seamless story, and Capsule Monsters II: The Trial of the True King, which covers the final six episodes.
