Canada's Waterloo Festival To Screen "Rainbow Fireflies" Film

Canada's 2012 Waterloo Festival of Animated Cinema have added Konosuke Uda's Rainbow Fireflies (Niji-Iro Hotaru ~Eien no Natsu Yasumi~) to its list of anime film showings. The films that have already been included in the lineup are Asura, Blood-C: The Last Dark, A Letter to Momo, Wolf Children films and the Anime Mirai shorts.

The story revolves around a 12-year-old boy named Yuuta (Akashi Takei) who had lost his father in a traffic accident a year ago. For his summer vacation he decides to go to a deserted dam deep in the mountains, a place where he and his father once shared good memories. Yuuta suddenly receives a shock in a thunderstorm, loses his footing, and becomes unconscious. When he wakes up, he sees a small girl and a village — except this village is the one that should be submerged below the dam. Yuuta realizes that he slipped thirty years back in time. 'Another' summer vacation begins.

The film opened in Japan, earlier this year, on May 19 and screened at France's Annecy film festival in June.

The festival will be on from November 15 to November 18 at the Chrysalids Theatre in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada.
