Filming has already begun on the live-action adaptation film based on the top selling manga “Thermar Romae” by Yamazaki Mari. The cast now revealed Abe Hiroshi (46) will star as Lucius, while Ueto Aya (25) will play the female lead as Mami. Takeuchi Hideki (“Nodame Cantabile”, “Densha Otoko” and many others) will be directing, with the screenplay by Muto Shogo (“Crows ZERO”, “Hanazakari no Kimitachi e”, “Densha Otoko”).
Yamazaki Mari’s manga won the “Manga Taisho 2010″ and the “14th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize”. The story a comedy about “Lucius” (Abe), an ancient Roman bath house architect who finds inspiration from modern Japanese bath houses after traviling through time to see them.
Filming is slated to end in early May having begun on March 14th in Rome.
Film release date is planned for a 2012.
