"Niji-Iro Hotaru ~Eien no Natsu Yasumi~" (Rainbow-Coloured Fireflies: The Eternal Summer Vacation) is a new film from Toei Animation that will premiere in Japan on May 19. Cinema Today's website started streaming a 39-second promo for this film.
Directed by Konosuke Uda (One Piece, Galaxy Express 999: Eternal Fantasy), this film is based on Masayuki Kawaguchi's 2007 novel of the same name and tells us the story of a sixth-grader, Yuta, who goes back 30 years in time during his summer vacation.
This film also features an adapted screenplay by Kei Kunii (The Princess Blade live action film), as well as animation direction and character designs by Hisashi Mori (Samurai 7).
Many more key people involved in this are known for their work in other animes such as "K-ON" and "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya" so this is definitely a film to look out for.
